ChargePoint pricing change
ChargePoint changed its pricing on March 1. Here is what your property is actually paying.
A Florida property manager's breakdown of the published ChargePoint fees, where the money goes, and what the same ports cost on Tesla hardware.
As of 1 March 2026, ChargePoint applies a service fee to each charging session — $0.25 for account holders and $0.49 for guests on Level 2 — in addition to whatever rate the property sets. That fee goes to ChargePoint, not to the association. ChargePoint states that free sessions and workplace sessions are exempt from the session fee, so a property offering charging at no cost to residents is not affected by this particular charge. Separately, ChargePoint's published list price for its commercial cloud plan is $475 per port per year. That is a recurring software cost the property carries regardless of how many sessions the ports deliver. Between the subscription and the new per-session fee, a Florida community with eight ports should expect the network line on its budget to be a standing four-figure item.
The three numbers
| ChargePoint | Tesla | |
|---|---|---|
| Annual network or cloud plan, per port | $475 published list price | about $76 at typical multifamily use |
| Per-session driver fee since 1 Mar 2026 | $0.25 account holder / $0.49 guest | none |
| Who receives the session fee | ChargePoint | not applicable |
Tesla's commercial fee is $0.03 per kWh rather than a flat subscription, so the annual figure moves with usage. The $76 figure uses 2,540 kWh per port per year, the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager benchmark for Level 2 charging. The ChargePoint session-fee amounts are taken from ChargePoint's own published FAQ.

What switching involves
Florida Chargers starts with a site survey of the existing stations, panel capacity, and conduit runs. On a property that already has charging, the existing conduit and circuits are usually reusable, which lowers the cost compared with a new installation.
The hardware is the Tesla Universal Wall Connector, a Level 2 unit rated at 48A and 11.5 kW with a NACS connector and a built-in J1772 adapter, so it serves non-Tesla vehicles as well as Teslas. Load sharing across units keeps multiple ports on the available circuit capacity.
A typical project runs 6 to 12 weeks from signed agreement to energised chargers, covering permitting, utility coordination, installation, and commissioning.
How it gets paid for
Share the Revenue
Financing available, revenue from day one
Under Share the Revenue, Florida Chargers co-invests in the project and owns and operates the chargers. The property invests in the professional installation and earns a recurring share of the charging revenue. Tesla Wall Connector hardware is included.
Financing is available for qualified properties to cover the electrical infrastructure and installation with no money down. Florida Chargers handles monitoring, support, and service for the life of the agreement.
