Office and Workplace EV Charging Installation in Florida

Office charging is a different buy from hotel charging. The decision-maker is the building owner or commercial asset manager, the cars park during the workday instead of overnight, and the billing question is how employees and visitors pay. Florida Chargers designs workplace Level 2 charging around those three facts.

    A different buyer than hotels

A hotel GM buys charging to win bookings from drive-market guests. An office building owner or CAM buys charging to support leasing, renewals, and tenant requests. The office case is measured in tenant retention and lease conversations, and the decision is usually made by ownership rather than by on-site operations. For hotel properties, see hotel EV charging.

Daytime dwell and Florida peak load

Office parking turns over on a weekday schedule: arrivals between 7 and 9 a.m., departures between 4 and 6 p.m. That eight-hour dwell suits Level 2 charging. It also overlaps with the Florida afternoon HVAC peak, which is why Florida Chargers sizes office projects with a load study rather than a nameplate guess. Networked Tesla Universal Wall Connectors share available circuit capacity across ports, so a first phase can often run on existing service.

    How employees and visitors pay

Florida Chargers enrolls the site in Tesla for Business and sets a pay-per-use price with the building owner. Employees and visitors both pay per session through the Tesla app, so the building does not handle billing. If a building wants employee-only access, sponsored charging for a tenant, or different rates for different groups, Florida Chargers confirms during the site assessment what the network supports for that site before it goes into a proposal.

Under Share the Revenue, the property invests in the professional installation, Florida Chargers owns and operates the chargers, and the property earns 50% of net charging profit for the full term. Tesla Wall Connector hardware is included. Financing is available for qualified properties to cover the electrical infrastructure and installation with no money down.

    Cost, utilities, and timeline

Typical installed cost runs $5,000 to $8,000 per port before incentives. FPL's EVolution Make-Ready Credit provides up to $1,200 per Level 2 port, first-come until the program budget is depleted. Duke Energy Florida's Commercial Charger Prep Credit covers wiring, panel, and conduit, not hardware or permits. Typical timeline is 6 to 12 weeks from signed agreement to energized chargers. Florida Chargers serves offices in Orlando, Tampa Bay, Miami-Dade, and across FL, GA, AL, SC, and NC. Properties replacing subscription chargers can review ChargePoint migration.

    Frequently asked questions

The building owner or the commercial asset manager (CAM) acting for the owner. Office charging is not governed by Florida's condominium statute unless the building is an office condominium, so the decision usually sits with ownership and is shaped by tenant lease terms and parking agreements.

Florida Chargers sets a pay-per-use price for the site through Tesla for Business, and employees and visitors pay per session in the Tesla app. Any request for employee-only access or group-specific pricing is checked against what the network supports for that site during the free site assessment, before it appears in a proposal.

Office buildings often have more panel capacity than their daytime load uses, but HVAC peaks in a Florida summer afternoon overlap with workplace charging hours. A load study reviews utility interval data and panel capacity to size a first phase that avoids demand-charge surprises and an unplanned service upgrade.

Yes. Employees typically park for eight hours or more, and a Level 2 port delivers a full day's driving in a fraction of that. DC fast charging is not needed for daytime workplace dwell.
